Settle-Carlisle announced for Train Simulator 2012! Available from 29 March.

Once famous for its Ribblehead Viaduct, then famous for avoiding closure, but always famous amongst rail fans as an outstanding British railway line, the Settle-Carlisle line is coming to Train Simulator 2012.

Set in the mid-2000s, the Settle-Carlisle Expansion Pack recreates this most famous and picturesque of British railway lines running more than 70 miles (112km) between Settle in North Yorkshire and Carlisle in Cumbria. The line was a considerable engineering feat which led to some dramatic constructions, such as the Ribblehead Viaduct and Blea Moor Tunnel, and rises to the highest point on the British main line at 1,169 feet (356m) above sea level.

The line endured and won a five-year battle against closure in the late 1980s, and has since remained a favourite with enthusiasts from far and wide visiting and riding on the line every year. Now everybody will be able to drive their own trains along this inspiring stretch of line, battling the gradients through the ‘three peaks’ and admiring the views as they drive over (and sometimes beneath) this wonderful landscape.

The Settle-Carlisle Expansion Pack, complete with accurately recreated track work, stations and line side features, will include: Class 158, Class 66, Class 37, Jubilee (Leander) and 4F locomotives, plus maroon Mk1 coaches, EWS HAA hoppers and PCA tanks (V and straight variants).
