Advanced Texturing (reflection and bump mapping)
I have added extra features to the Trainz exporter.
Reflect maps - also called environment maps
This give the impression of reflections from the environment (hence the names!) They are usually small textures which look like a fisheye lens photo.
* In 3DCanvas, use the "Secondary Texture" Tab in the material selection to select the reflect map texture and set the translucency (Tr.) amount to something over 70.
* 70-90 makes the material look very reflective, 90+ gives a more subtle effect.
* Note you must have a primary texture in this case.
* If you apply (or update) the texture on the model now, it will look a little odd inside 3DC, as the primary and secondary textures are merged. However, after export the secondary texture will become a reflection.
****** Reflect Maps do not support transparency *******
The type is changed from reflect to gloss if a transparency is used in the main texture. The areas masked off do not get the reflect map texture applied - this could be used to simulate rust on a reflective surface.
Bump maps
This is processed in the same way as reflect maps, however it is usually defined as a grey scale height map, where white indicates raised portions of the texture.
In 3DC, just add the bump map to, unsurprisingly, the Bump map tab in the material selection and apply or update the texture.
This should not make much difference to the view in 3DC 6.5, but 6.6 may show the bump map at work.
The difference from reflection mapping is that after export, you need to convert the grey scale height map to a "normal map" - you can get a tool to convert TGA file height maps from here: http://www.ati.com/developer/sdk/rad...lsPlugIns.html
Bump maps do support transparency.
Reflect maps and bump maps can be applied at the same time (but transparency is lost)

Правда здесь для 3D Canvas'а, но всё же обнадёживает!
