0. Why do we photograph locomotives for textures:
Every locomotive is a story. This is someone's fate. Someone worked on it for many years, someone studied, someone burned, someone drove it. These are people, fates. When the locomotive is cut it all disappears without a trace. And we we reproduce them into 3D-models for railway simulators.
Real locomotives that real people worked on. So you are going to do a good deed, so go ahead!


1. The face of the locomotive - 1 frontal shot if it possible. Side of the first section - in 3-4 shots:
Intersection - 1 shote, side of the second section - 3 - 4 shots.


2. You need to shoot as smoothly as possible, without tilting or blocking the lens.


3. It is necessary that each part would occupy as much space as possible in the frame. For example, to make the subject occupy the maximum frame area. See pictures below.

4. It is necessary to shoot continuously so that there are no gaps between shots. You can shoot overlap, leaving part of the previous shot in the shot. In order not to be like this: the beginning of the side of loco and the end of the side of loco are captured, and the middle is missing.


5. To prevent photos from being blurry, use burst shooting, in other words, take double shots. If the camera does not have such a mode, then you can press the shutter button yourself several times. This is what this is for. Sometimes the weather is too cloudy or dark and the pictures are blurry. So that the pictures are not blurry, we photograph the front part of the locomotive several times. Of 3 or 5 blurry shots, there will usually be one shot - not blurry. This is what saves in the harsh conditions of photography. Those. in general, it is always better to take not one photo of the front of the locomotive, but 3 or 5. Then the likelihood that among 5 shots of frames will be one normal and clear increases.


6. Do not take pictures on a mobile phone. Permission is still not enough, just waste your time.

7. If you are standing on the platform, and the locomotive is on the tracks or it is impossible to stand in front of the locomotive to take a photo, then shoot the front part at an angle with the maximum increase in focal length and a large number of double shots. Stand so that the plane of the front of the locomotive is as perpendicular to the axis of the lens as possible, i.e. was not too diagonal, in which case the photo can be successfully edited.

8. If the face cannot be captured even so, then you should refuse to shoot at all. Practice shows that if the face is not captured, then make a model of a locomotive is not realistic.
